Before approving wholesale notebooks, test the pages with the pens your customers expect to use. Record the ink, the writing pressure and the result on the reverse of the sheet. You can then compare samples against the same brief, rather than choosing paper by its listed weight or the look of the cover.
Futurity Brands lists an A5 Hardcover Notebook and an A5 PVC Spiral Notebook with 80 sheets of 80 gsm offset paper and horizontal lines on both sides. Those shared specifications give buyers a useful starting point for a writing test. They do not establish ink performance. Ask the supplier for a bound sample of the version you intend to order.
Record the paper specification before opening the sample
Keep the two product references separate. The A5 Hardcover Notebook page lists specification number PF-S014, product code KB25040020, a 148 × 210 mm size and a 6 mm bookmark ribbon. Its gallery photograph shows a silver-lavender cover with heart motifs, a purple band and a raised monkey-face decoration. The photograph does not show the inner pages or binding construction. The A5 PVC Spiral Notebook page lists specification number PF-S015, product code KB25040021 and a 144 × 212 mm size. Its description specifies colorful double spirals and an acrylic pendant. The selected photograph shows pink binding, pastel character artwork, scattered star-shaped pieces and a winged-heart pendant. View the A5 PVC Spiral Notebook listing.

Use the stated measurements in your sample request rather than treating the A5 name as the complete size specification. Ask the supplier to identify the inner-page dimensions and the finished closed dimensions. Keep sheets and pages as separate fields in your approval record, and confirm how the supplier counts any title or end sheets.
Run one writing test across both notebook formats
Choose the writing tools that match your intended use. For an office range, you might compare a ballpoint and a gel pen. Include a highlighter or fountain pen if you plan to describe compatibility with that tool. Record the exact pen or ink reference so a colleague can repeat the comparison.
Write the same short passage and a filled block on each sample. Note the time between writing and checking for smudges; keep that interval consistent. Turn the sheet over and photograph the reverse under the same lighting. Record visible show-through and ink that has penetrated the paper as separate observations. Avoid describing either notebook as bleed-resistant until your agreed test supports that claim.
Repeat the exercise near the beginning and the end of the book. Check line alignment and page trimming as you turn the sheets. Compare paper shade beside the same reference sheet, away from the colored cover. These are proposed buyer checks, not evidence that either listed notebook has passed a test.
Check the writing position at the binding
Open each sample at the point where a customer would write. Try both left and right pages, with the hand near the inner margin. Record whether the binding obstructs the hand and how much of the ruled area you can use without forcing the book open.
For the spiral format, turn pages through the range you expect customers to use and inspect the punched holes afterward. Check the wire ends and the attachment of the pendant on a spare sample. For the hardcover format, ask the supplier to identify the binding method before agreeing on an opening test. The catalog name alone does not establish a lay-flat construction.
Resolve material and packing details before approval
The spiral product name uses PVC, while its description specifies an inflatable TPU cover. Ask the supplier to confirm the material for the quoted version and align the specification sheet with that answer. Treat the photograph as evidence of appearance, not proof of polymer composition or cover durability.
Both product pages describe single-book OPP packaging and six books per box, while a separate inner-pack field says 12 pieces. Ask which pack structure applies to your order before planning receiving or retail replenishment. Request a packed sample if the pendant or raised decoration could affect how you stack the notebooks. Do not resolve the conflicting fields by selecting whichever quantity suits your plan.
Send a marked sample record with your inquiry
Prepare a short record for each version: product reference, paper and ruling requirements, pen references, test observations and photographs. Mark the sample date and the changes you want the supplier to review. Keep an untouched reference copy beside the tested sample so the team can compare the approved appearance with later submissions.
Send the selected notebook links and this record to Futurity Brands with your intended sales channel and quantity range. Ask for current sample options, the confirmed paper specification and packing details. Request a quotation for that defined version, including any artwork or packaging changes. Approve the writing experience and the finished presentation together before you finalize the order.
